Things which you dont know about Color Therapy

We all associate color with mood – red is the color of passion and excitement while blue is cool and reflective – but there are many who take this further and claim that color has the power to improve and presumably damage our sense of being.

Color therapists believe that you can actually heal the body by applying colored light to it. We each have a colored electromagnetic field around us. The theory goes that each part of our body vibrates to these colors. Apparently, when we feel unwell it’s because these vibrations are somehow malfunctioning. So, we should apply the right color to the bit of us that’s unwell so as to readjust the vibrations and heal the illness. Ancient Egyptians had colored rooms in their temples for the purpose which proves that the benefits of this method were known at the time.

Color therapy is not new, but people have recently started to apply its principles to interior design. It is possible to enhance our spirits through well-considered decorations and people should start taking this very seriously because, after a long day in the office or wherever our daily activity takes place, our home should be the spot where we can relax and gather our strength to start it all over again on the next day.

It is true that colored pigment is less powerful than colored light, but once you start opening to it, the effect is astounding. Yet, people respond to color in different ways, so this is a very subjective practice; yet, there are some general rules.

The most calming colors are the cool ones – blues, greens and violets – so the theory is that if we are aiming for peace and tranquility we should eschew those fabulous hot red walls and stick to the more gentle side of the spectrum. Violet is a tranquil color that promotes inspiration and contemplation. Green is a balancing color, neither hot nor cold, but blue is the most calming of all, which makes it a good color for bedrooms (it also promotes cozy dreams).

Yet, too much of a single color is not healthy to us. The secret stands in the appropriate combination: all colors must be balanced by their complementary color. A violet room must contain some intellectual stimulating yellow whereas a blue room needs a splash of orange, the color of joy and physical activity.
